i am new to this forum so first let me introduce myself,

My name is Sinan Ozmen and am an international business student in France and grew up in a watch and suits loving family. My dream was to own a Patek (vintage of course) and found one online and I would love to share it with you and have your opinion about if it is entirely genuine or not

It is a Patek Philippe Gondolo pocket watch and here are the pictures of it

May you please tell me what you think :)

PS : I know the case is a replacement :)

Always nice to see a P.P.

The Gondolas were made especially for the South American market...Brazil I think.

I've seen these before and they are always in a gold case, sometime in the past someone
has sold the gold case and knowing this to be a fine and valuable watch had the movement recased.
This fact enabled you to become the proud owner of a Patek Philippe at a reasonable price.

Everything is genuine except the case,... a very fine watch.

Thanks a lot radger it is really nice to see an answer as quick as that :)
The fact is that there are some different colours in the mechanism that made me this of the 2 wheels (color between gold and copper) in the center were added to repair the watch ...
Are you certain the mechanism hasn't been modified ?
Do you think the price is fair ?

Again thanks a lot for your precise answer I really do appreciate it

The movement looks fair and all original to me, the train wheels are of a gold alloy,
and are as they should be.

There is some corrosion to the polished steel work in the movement but this always
looks worse in pics than when the watch is in hand, it isn't too bad. These parts can
always be re-polished by a master watchmaker if desired.

I'm pretty certain that the movement has had no modification

The price was fair I'd think, after all Albert Einstein and Queen Victoria owned P.P's so
    you are in good company.

Einstein had a Patek? I knew he owned a Longines (recently auctioned) but hadn't heard of a Patek before.....

Gold hands in steel case? Suggests that the original case was also gold. Some people ought to be flogged.....

Haha I guess you're right it's a real priviledge to own such a brand and I know it :) I was just worrying about it's authenticity because in the end this price (even if it is cheap for Patek) is a huge budget for a student ...
Any other opinion on the watch ? :)

    Thanks a lot Radger !!!

I knew the steel case is a replacement it is clearly stated in the auction ... A real shame that the original didn't came along but I guess it wouldn't have been for the same price :)

What do you think about its movement Helmut ? :)

I agree with radger: the movement is all original and has been polished a little on some bridges. If it was an Omega, I would strongly suspect frankenizing but with Pateks, there is just too little material around to do that!

    That's great :)

Do you know where I could find other cases ? And do you know if it would be easy to put it in another case ?

What do you think about the case ?

All feeds are great to receive thanks a lot Helmut

I would give up on getting another case for it. You could invest a lot and get another gold case - and even then, it would still not be in its original case and have regained the value that it lost when the old case was trashed. It is still worth quite a bit but certainly not as much as an all original one.....
