Patek Philippe - model identification and evaluation

    Hello
My friends father served in Polish Air Forces in Enlgand during WW2 and later in RAF. Somwhere in between 1945-48 he bought a PATEK PHILIPPE watch which was very expensive in that time. He has original box theres no model number or other markings to indentify this model. Neither on the box, nor on watch itself. Can somebody help in identification and eventually in valuation.

Thank you but after hours of research i found the model myself. Its Calatrava 2458. But there is a slight difference between this particular piece and those i see in the internet - arms which hold belt have fancy shape, and those from internet are stright. Why is it and is it important when selling?

The identifying reference number should be on the inside of the case back. My guess would be a ref. 1578. They came in both center and sub-second versions. Here's an example with a slightly different dial and hand-set, but you can see that the case and lugs are the same style.

I believe to go further, we'd need a nice, clear photo of the caliber.
I am not all that familiar, but I don't see anything that screams fake/ redial to me. Wasn't Patek at that time using rather pedestrian movements - compared to what they employed later.
