    Pierpont

I am new to the forum and this is my first post. I recently received a Pierpont watch as a gift and I wonder if anyone here can provide any
information regarding age of the watch. It has a 25 jewel automatic/mechanical movement. Thanks in advance for any information. Mike

Welcome to Watchuseek. Style looks like late 1950's to early 1960's. Nice looking watch in an 18k case.

Lovely watch. The Pierpont brand was founded by Swiss makers Sauter Freres & Cie one hundred years ago, and if yours is anything like one of mine, it may have a decent-enough Felsa 4000/4007 movement inside it.

    Regards.

    Welcome
Pierpont were a great watchmaking company that didn't survive the Quartz revolution - they produced a very fine range of watches and all are collectable
Your watch looks in a great condition, you will need to have t serviced at some stage (if it hasn't been already) pick a local watch maker with a good reputation
lots of watches like yours didn't survive when gold went through the roof.
I wish i could think of something funny to put here.

I had the watch serviced and appraised by a good watch maker. It is very accurate if I keep it wound. The automatic feature keeps it running during the day but I've had to give it a short winding at bedtime to get it through the night. The watch sat in a drawer for 25-30 years which probably protected it from the gold rush

Thanks to all for your replies.

If you are saying that the watch won't run for at least 24 hours without have to wind it continuously, that's not a good sign about the service that was performed. You might want to mention this to the watchmaker.

I have a blurry picture of the watch with the back removed. I don't know how much this can tell you.
