Please help identify Vintage Ulysse Nardin

Found this watch while unpacking from the move to my new place. Probably left behind by my parents. Brought it to a local goldsmith and he confirmed its 18k gold .. just need to know the authenticity and year made , model etc of this piece. Many many thanks in advance for your inputs

Welcome to Watchuseek! That's a lovely looking watch. However, as laikrodukas said, we do not give valuations here for a variety of reasons. As for age, the style of the case is distinctly post WWII, at the same time, the lack of shock proofing and the fact that it seems to be an older calibre makes it a little less recent. The movement is probably something by Fontainemelon (FHF), e.g.:

    bidfun-db Archiv: Uhrwerke: FHF 4, 13'''

On the whole, I'd guess early fifties for this one.

No, it is not an in house movement. Ulysse Nardin are actually one of the makers that didn't really use many in house wrist watch movements (if any) before their revival in the 1980s. And even then, they started by heavily modifying ETA movements. They made their own ship's chronometre movements, though - and that's what they were probably most famous for in the old days.

FWIW, the bird over sunburst maker's mark on the case back is "right" for the Nardin firm that made some cases for Ulysse Nardin (name escapes me) and as Hartmut Richter says the serial number suggests early fifties but I am surprised by the lack of an incabloc.

    Hi,
Not only the lack of Incabloc, but the ébauche too looks older as UN were more into "cubist" Peseux in those days for manual wind... And this sector dial is much more typical of the late 1930s to early 1940s in my view !

I am glad you said that, as I thought so, too, but I didn't dare differ from Hartmut Richter!

Why not?! I am no watch god and, although I am right on many (most?!) occasions, I am not right on all occasions. And I don't take objective criticism personally. Please dare to contradict me if you have better information - it gives me a chance to learn.
