Please help me identify the movement on this LIGA?

    Hi all

Just took delivery of a LIGA 17 Jewel center seconds watch. Pics attached. Love these old timers...
I would be pleased to know if anyone could help identify the movement?

    Regards

    Paul

Hi, it's an AS/ST 1801 as shown under the balance wheel. Spec details here: bidfun-db Archive: Watch Movements: AS 1801 (Standard 1801)

You're very welcome. In many cases, the trademark of the movement's maker is stamped under or near the balance wheel and an accompanying number denotes the calibre of the movement itself. There are various reference sources available which help identify both.

.......and just by way of clarification, the movement in your LIGA was made by Adolf Schild (AS) and is a cal(ibre) 1801.

Yes, I see A Schild SA was a prolific manufacturer of movements.

Is there a way to figure out when the movement was made?

For some manufacturers, yes. But not in this case. BTW, as you probably noticed, some of all of the hands on your watch appear to be replacements. With some research, you could probably determine the correct hands and eventually restore the watch to be more like the original.

    Thanks Dan

Now that you mention it, the hand styles do look like they are different in style.

It might be really tough to find out what they should look like; information on LIGA is very very sparse. I can't even find out when they went out of business. Trying to find a pic of this model as it looked originally might be a real needle in the haystack deal. Maybe I can a suitable set of hands that match.

I will give it a try. I really did not pay much for it, but I felt sort of drawn to it, maybe because the brand seemed so obscure. It runs pretty accurately.
