    Hi and welcome.

It isn't possible to give valuations online, but at first glance it looks like you may have some very nice watches in that collection. I would suggest that you approach an auction house that has a specialist watch and clock section. The one that the BHI uses is Tennants Auctioneers: Horology who have offices in Harrogate. Bonhams Bonhams 1793 : Watches has an office in Chester. There are others like Sotheby's etc that are southern based, but may have northern offices.

    Hope that helps.

    thanks marrick
i think my father did take them along to bonhams, theres some info from them with the collection, amongst other things, very old ordance maps ect, have also had one guy offer me the silver scrap weight which didnt seem right with some of them being as old as they are, i dont have the time really to identify and gather info on them, i guess im hoping to find a buyer who would take them as a mixed collection, or maybe a dealer/collector in or within a reasonible drive from me to go chat to.

Don't even consider the silver scrap value, but I think you do need specialist advice from someone who has the watches in hand. If you want the best price then I'd follow Marricks advice as they will do the information gathering and selling for you. If you just want to simply pass them on for a reasonable price then I'm sure there will be a collector who'd be interested. I'd love to add some English watches into my collection, but I wouldn't know where to start in offering you a price

I'm pretty slim in pocket watch knowledge, but some of those do seem rather nice. Why did your father not want you to keep them? I know families are different, but it was my grandfather's Gallet Decimal watch that got me involved in vintage chronographs. I'm a firm believer in family heirlooms.

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do!

Re: point me in the right direction

My father started to collect watches because his father did, he wasnt passionate about it and stopped when my grandfather died. My dad always told me I should sell them and convert them into something I am interested in, in this case a classic triumph tiger cub, motorcycles was an interest I shared for many years with my dad and his, seems fitting to me. They never see the light of day and I'm sure there's someone out there that would really really appreciate theses.
