    Pointer Date watches

Well, I got another last week and thought I'd show my entire Pointer Date collection (4 !).

First the 'new' one - a Rodana. : BTW, Rodana changed its name to Rodania. Altivo shows a 1949 ad with 'Rodana' and a 1952 ad with 'Rodania'. See
    http://www.altivotimepieces.com/vintage/id90.html

So its fair to say this was pre - 1952.

I was hoping the black mark at 5 - 6 was just dirt, but its a paint scratch. Anyway, it works well and was pretty cheap.

Movement looks to be an FHF 175-3 without shock protection.

This is my Rimla - a fairly obscure brand:

It has a Venus 208 movement.

    Roamer with day as well:

Featuring an 17J MST 416. This had a slipping canon pinion on arrival - hence cheap. But I've had it fully serviced since. Hence not so cheap.

    And my recently posted Stowa:

    with its Osco 42 CLD:

It would be nice to see some other date pointers if anyone has one or two.

    Re: Pointer Date watches

I'm sorry to say I don't have any pointer date watches to show - yet! It's definitely a nice complication to have, adding both style and functionality.

Certainly some solid examples you've got there, Marrick. How's the collection looking over all, size-wise?

My word, how do you store and organise such a collection? And how long did it take you to pass the 100 mark?

A nice display case, 2 cheap aluminium cases, a little chest of drawers - but not that organised! About 3 years to get past the 100. I sell a few now and then to fund new purchases.

Can you point me in the direction of a resource explaining how the mechanism of the pointer date works? I guess it's a star wheel & jumper arrangement - but that's just extrapolating from other movements explained in books...
