    Pretty cool Racine Gallet Automatic

Got this in a lot and it was abused badly. Someone had tried to put the watch back together with the dial feet hold screws not in all the way. It was WEDGED in there so bad it took me 2 hours to get the movement out without destroying the watch. The only loss I had was the reserve indicator hand was rusty and broke the second I touched it to remove. I found an incorrect hand but it fits so I dont care. With a clean/oil its running fine and even the reserve indicator works good. I like the case it is steel with gold bezel and gold on top of the lugs. Enjoy pictures I have choose not to even try to clean the dial so it is as found.

Yes, that's a unique bird. Racine experimented with many calibers, trying to branch out from "just" being a Gallet distributor. I think this turned out well!

Movement is by Adolf Schild, though (Cal. AS 1381 or AS 1512 - or a derivate of either):

Size: 94.2 KBVery nice piece! I'm a Gallet chrono collector, including a nice Racine with an EP40-68 movement. Is the movement on this watch signed JxR anywhere? The pic is a bit blurry and I thought I spied it but can't be sure. Should all Racines have a JxR signature?

Other then the reserve hand not being the same color, it does not look so bad. I would leave it like that also if it were mine.

Does the crown screw down on this watch?

Rain, you might consider making a new thread for your Gallet, instead of latching onto an old thread.

Yours is an interesting piece, combining features from the 1950's (the flat pushers) to a more modern dial (That logo style started in 1965). It is a factory watch, just one with its feet in two different decades. Racine was a cousin of the Gallet's, and their main importer into US markets for several years. JXR is the tax import code. It should be on the balance wheel bridge, however later pieces (late 1970's) were spotty in either having this or not.
We'd like to see a photo of the movement, if you are lucky it is an EP40-68
