    Pronto-Verdal Arbu Datostar

Hello, I was hoping someone on the site could tell me about this watch. It has 3 brands on the dial (Pronto, Verdal and Arbu) and seems to run on a A.S. ebauch, looks like the 1130. Any info would be much appreciated! I found the Arbu ad on Ebay, the left watch seems quite similar.

In the mikrolisk database, both Pronto and Verdal are manufactured by Leon Maitre & Fils in Le Noirmont Switzerland.

Arbu was manufactured by A. Bueche & Fils in Biel, Switzerland.

Both companies date back to the late 1930s, and perhaps they combined at some point. It wouldn't be surprising; according to Google maps, the two towns are only 40km apart. Also according to Google maps, Biel and Bienne (from your ad) are basically the same place.

This seems to be a nice triple-date (with A Schild movement as you mentioned) from a defunct company.

Thanks for the info Dan! It is a very nice piece. It has quick set buttons for all 3 date functions. The sides of the case are brushed. Could you say that when a case is (partially) brushed it is stainless steel? Or can chrome be brushed too?

Of course chrome plated cases can have a brushed finish.

Check the case back (both sides of it)- if it'll be just "acier inoxydable", that means it's stainless steel. If "fond acier inoxydable", this means "stainless steel back", i.e. the rest of the case is plated base metal (brass).

I found this old thread from a different forum about a very similar watch.
