Pronto Verdal Type Tour de France Info needed

    Hello,

Recently I bought 20 or so of various vintage watches. Among them was this Pronto Verdal watch. Google did help a bit, but not enough. I am interesting in any onfo on watch, brand or movement. Is it French or Swiss? Any brand history and possible relation to Tour de France? And what is the movement name. As you can see, it has inscription 15 751 and it is cca. 23 mm in diameter, so I guess it is 10.5'''.
    Thank you in advance:thanks

The movement is definitely Swiss - it says so on it.

There was a Swiss Pronto watch company, now in liquidation.

Pronto was a registered trademark of "Inter-Continental Trading Corporation, NYC" as of 1944. That time period would be consistent with the general style of the watch.

    Hello,
I can try to help with at least one of the points:
Pronto Watch Co. - Wikipedia - it is in Dutch - but "Type Tour de France was the counterpoint to the Pontiac brand , which became popular in 1951 after the fall of Wim van Est during the Tour de France."
Pontiac - producer of watches and jewelry registered also in Belgium since 1936 - well know in Benelux countries because of the fact of sponsoring a great Dutch Cyclist - Wim van Est - whom was born and died in my neighborhood.

    Cheers,
    aRmian
