Question Question about the Zodiac Olympos SST 36,000 ...

I spotted this NOS model from 1975, looks in pretty good condition. I wanted to know if it has a decent movement and whether service would be expensive/a bother. Images from the seller's site -

Although I'm no expert on the details, yes that is a good movement powering a beautiful watch. These were the real Zodiacs, before their eventual takeover by Swatch.

I owned a SeaWolf with a similar movement; routine servicing was never a problem by my watchmaker. Being an in-house movement though and out of production, parts are probably going to be getting scarce.

I'll be happy to move on this one if you don't want to.

Thanks for the reply, Sherry. I'm still debating whether to get this one or an Eterna Fast Beat.

I do not believe Swatch ever owned Zodiac. (But I could be wrong.)

The pictured watch is a real gem!! The movement is a masterpiece of engineering. It is well worth a service.
"Forever is composed of nows." - Emily Dickinson

"The watch has to be surrounded by a history.
You need more than just a great design. You need to create an atmosphere around the product.
Who is the company behind it? Why are they using this material?
People need to be able to identify the watch with themselves. It's based on emotion." - Ralph Furter

...that's just my opinion and I've been wrong before and will be again and might be now!

Nope, you're right. It is Fossil who purchased Zodiac, not Swatch. My mistake.

But I still miss the real Zodiacs.

Wow...tough choice! Glad it isn't me...I'm a fan of both brands so I'd probably end up buying one of each!

..which is partly how I ended up with over sixty watches...
