I'll admit, I'm fairly ignorant when it comes to pocket watches. I joined this site hoping to find some information about a French watch I recently inherited (pictures coming soon). I'm looking for more info about who created the watch, when it was made, and where. It's been in my family for quite some time, and I intend to keep it, so I'm not looking for offers or appraisals. For now, here is what I've got for information...
The door is engraved:
"Galonne" - gold plated silver?
"5 1510" - No idea...
"0.800" with the letters "EP" in a box below, and a diamond above - silver grade?
There is also a crest with a half moon and a crown.
The back is engraved:
"REMONTOIR" - stem wound movement (?)
"Ancre Ligne Droite" - straight line lever escapement (?)
"Spiral Breguet" - spring assembly (?)
"15 Rubis" - 15 jewels (?)
The watch is functional, though it seems to lose approximately 2 minutes every 24 hours. Case appears to be silver and gold with a white gold inlay? The back has a very plain crest with nothing engraved on the shield. Again, please excuse my ignorance... Any help with corrections, information, or filling in the blanks would be great.
