I’m no expert but I am suspicious. Seems just too clean to be real. Also, I see three different fonts used for the number 4. Looking at pictures on google images, I can’t find another UG Compur that does that. But, like I sai, I’m not an expert.

Moved from Public to Vintage and Pocket Watch.
I'm no expert either but when I see a perfect dial on a 70 year old watch I'm suspicious.

    Re: Redial??

This very same watch has been sold on eBay only a year ago:

Quite possibly someone's getting rid of a "lemon..."

The dial is, IMO, repainted- the font looks very odd, and the scales on the subdials appear to be misaligned (considerably...).

I`m no U.G.expert but I`d go with a redial too..
sub dial markings look to small for the dial indents and if you look at the bases of particularly the large 2 and the zero on the large 10 they look very scrappy to me.

Thanks for the replies. It looked too good but I don’t have any experience with radials. How are the best ones done?

Even more suspicious after seeing it was sold in January and buyer left + feedback now it’s listed again by same seller. Hmm

There are several sites and threads on WUS on how redialing works. Essentially it is a 'printing' process from pre-made dial templates. It can be nicely done or it can be a disaster -- depends on the skill of the craftsperson. You are right, it looks too good for it's age. Insufficient wabi-sabi

    Re: Redial??

Subdials are misaligned. Look at the spacing between the chapter rings and the edge of the subdial recesses. Both are shifted towards 3 o'clock and away from 9. Add that to the fact that the dial is waaaay to clean for the age of the watch and I think the answer is clear.
