Question reprinted dial of a vintage Girard Perregaux?

Hello everyone, I find a Girard Perregaux Sea Hawk on eBay. It looks so good. However, the seller claimed the dial was "professionally reprinted". When looking closely, you can see the font of "Sea Hawk" and "SWISS" might be too modern. As many collectors suggest, the dial is the most valuable part of any vintage watch. Therefore I'm not sure if it is worth buying? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Hi and welcome, I personally wouldn't buy it since the Sea Hawk logo is definitely wrong and that bold SWISS lettering doesn't suit the watch at all. Sea Hawk GPs are rather common so I'd look for a better, non reprinted dial and possibly unpolished watch. But that's just me.

Agreed. There is a reason why u buy a vintage. Not for the modern features but for the authenticity of the era.

    Hi there,

with "Sea" in the name I'd expect a case which fairly keeps water out. So it is not worth the effort to have a closer look at the dial.
