I'm a novice at watch assembly and I've hit a bit of a wall.
I've had this old Ricoh knocking about the back of the cupboards for some time now & as it has never kept time I thought there was nothing to loose if I try my hand at watch making.
After many weeks of research I finally felt brave enough to take the back off and get started. Except for the many hours I've spent crawling around the floor looking for dropped screws I would say everything has gone quite smoothly.
Until I get to the reassembly of the Pallet forks.
I have a question about the pins that locate the forks into the jewels. In the photo attached you can see that one pin tapers down to quite a fine point on one side but the other doesn't. My question is, has it snapped off on one side or does the photo look fine?
The symptoms of this "broken" watch were, it would stop in it's tracks until you gave it a light shake. I figured it just needed a good clean but perhaps the Pallets were getting jammed.
Any input is appreciated.
