Roamer/MST Information - website and an appeal for materials

    Hi All,

As I have mentioned in several posts, I am currently constructing a web site on Roamer. I have collected a reasonable amount of material so far, and I hope to make it a useful and solid information repository (P.S. this is why I have been rather quiet of late).

The website will feature details on movements, dating and the company. I am planning on making much of the technical information I have available digitally. For now it will stick to the 1940s-1970s as this is my area of interest and experience. There will NOT be a forum associated with the site, as that is what places like WUS are for.

As there is quite a bit to do, it is unlikely to go live until early next year - but, I could do with more material.

In particular, I'm after quality scans of adverts (with accurate dates) and any other material of this form published by the company.

I already have copies of the 1949 (number 5), 1961 (number 6) and 1966 (number 6a) materials catalogs - so I don't need those. I wouldn't mind some of the other numbers if someone has them of-course.

I will also need watches as examples of various movements. I have most covered from my own collection, but need good examples with the MST420 and 522/523 autos. Dial and movement shots would be needed.

Any material you have that you think would be useful to me, no matter how small, please PM me

    Thanks,

    Kris.

    Looking forward to it.

Altivo has a few ads - 1949 - 1959 Vintage Ads - 1949 which they might let you borrow.

Sorry, I don't think I have those movements.

Please don't PM me to ask for a valuation - I won't attempt one.

I'd just love to know what the meaning of the cryptic little symbols they put on their plates is...

Not at the start, but maybe later. I don't have much on them tbh.

    I only have the one example:Name: roamer.JPG

but I've seen similiar things on other MST movements. FOr instance, there's a "x" in the corner of this one:
The Metatechnical Cabinet - MST 374

And something on the plate of this one:

Ahhh those. I have as yet seen no information - one might suspect it was a date code ala Bulova etc, but no evidence. I will hopefully be in contact with the old main agent in NZ after Christmas, I'll query it. MST is usually better at finishing than your photo above.
