    Sea master 600 (vintage)

    Hello guys,

I am wondering if someone here can help me. I am looking for a vintage watch and I have been looking on ebay to get an idea. So what I notice that there are a great many Omega seamaster 600s around. Many of which have new dials.

My question is, how do i tell if one is fake?

Is there a resource other than the Omega vintage website where i can find out about these watches?

also, does anyone know how there come to be so many in singapore and india?

    Many thanks

    Bob

Many of these are franken watches. They are created from bits and parts. If you search the forum here you will find many threads on this subject. Unfortunately, a good deal of the vintage Omega watches on eBay are not original. Especially the more popular styles you will find more frankens then originals.

Buying a popular Omega is difficult. You really have to know your stuff to get a real one. India and Singapore are commercial outlets for the 're-manufacturing' shops of India.

I'd look for a vintage Longines or a Tissot. In vintage they are comparable to Omegas in quality and are faked less frequently. And they are usually cheaper.

Who is the company behind it? Why are they using this material?

Yup, I'd agree with the above!!

When I started looking into vintage watches, it was Omega and Tissot that intereted me, but I soon learnt that many vintage Omegas were often bodged or generally not right, and those that were ok were expensive, whereas equivalent Tissots were much more affordable!!

I now have 'a bit' of a vintage Tissot collection going on!!
