    Seiko Hi-Beat question

I just got this Seiko Hi-Beat Automatic with 23 jewels in the mail today.

Seems to start up fine and keeps good time.
The only thing is that there isn't a sweep second hand, which makes me wonder if it is missing. Then again, not sure if this model even came with one to begin with.

Opened it up to get a look at the movement in order to find in the Ranfft database and see if it featured a sweep second or not. However, couldn't find a listing for the 2418A movement.

Figured if I posted some pictures, as someone would be able to let me know.
If it does need a second hand, I'm not worried about a replacement. Just want to be sure before I take a trip to a repair shop.

I've got more Converse sneakers than watches, but it is a close race.

Here is a technical spec - I'm not sure if it helps you. Somebody might interpret it definitively:

    http://www.cousinsuk.com/PDF/categor...ko%202418A.pdf

Here is an ebay listing with NO second hand

Vtg Seiko Hi Beat 23J Steel Automatic Women's Watch - eBay (item 330521674215 end time Jan-27-11 10:02:12 PST)

and here is another for sale also without a second hand

    SEIKO Automatic

The best photo database for Seikos is - afaik - http://www.himawari.sakura.ne.jp/~garaken/JW/J-TOP.htm - but the 2418A isn't in there yet.

I have a Seiko Hi-Beat with the 2409A (base cal 2408) and it had a seconds hand, you can still get original parts diagrams at.....

    https://www.watchuseek.com/seikocitiz...uals/2418A.pdf

Other than that search for photos of hi-beats and see if one like yours comes up...

    Thanks for the input everyone.

Also, posted this query in the Seiko forum and got this response from sharkfin

Guess I can still swing it by the shop that specializes in Seiko to see what they can tell me.
But it does appear that a few of these early models did not feature a seconds hand as a feature.

Thanks dougcee, mine looks kind of similar to yours on the left.
Guess all I need now is to replace the band, get it oiled and clean/polish the crystal and I'm good to go.

    Thanks for the feedback everyone.
