    Seiko Navigator Timer

I won this watch through an online estate sale auction. I paid more than I expected (definitely would have been less at an in-person estate sale). However, I don't have a GMT in my rotation, so figured I could justify it on those grounds as a permanent member of my watch family.

I don't have it yet, so no way of telling what's under the hood, condition-wise. It will be going to straight to the watch doctor. The bracelet on this watch is also not right, too small, so will need to find a vintage Seiko H link that fits.

Will share pics in due course.

Post-service photos. Looks and runs great. Thank you YuiryV.

I only wore it for 4-5 hours yesterday before taking it off before bed and noticed the next morning it stopped two hours after taking it off. Maybe only a full day on the wrist will keep it powered through the night. No way to manual wind this Seiko to build power reserve. Love the watch.

I searched high and low for an authentic signed bracelet for this model, but no luck. I opted for a Yobokies bead of rice, a vintage look with a modern clasp.

Great watches these, I see yours is the much rarer 'proof' version only made in 1970 IIRC, the bracelet fits and has similar styling cues to the original pictured here.

v8chrono- What does that mean? Limited edition? The bracelet is also comfy. I read the original RR bracelets were uncomfortable. Who knows!

    Nice watch.

It is not a limited edition in the early 1970's countries started cracking down on the use of water proof on watches. as most were not water proof. So the term water resistant came about. Some Seiko watches take forever to wind on the wrist. so give it a good winding by swaying your arm side to side for about 50 times

Could you post a photo of the caseback of your watch.? I have one of these Navigators. I would be interested to see if they are the same or different models. I too am missing the bracelet.

Great looking watch and I'd say you found the right bracelet for it!

I'm fairly sure that by 1971 Seiko had gone over to a 'water resist' rating rather than guaranteeing their watches to be 100% waterproof, meaning that your model, the 6117-6410 which I believe was introduced in 1970 was only marked as waterproof until the end of that year (along with the rest of the range may be apart from their genuine dive watches?). This fact makes yours rarer and more valuable than the more commonly marked 'resist' 6117-6410s which were produced until the mid seventies. I'm not sure if this change was government driven or a reaction by the manufactures to too many claims for watches damaged by water ingress?

As to the original bracelets, they are comfortable in my opinion. (FYI looks like your watch is from August 1970)
