    Servicing a vintage Angelus Chronodato

My Angelus Chronodato (circa 1940-1950) loses 10 minutes everyday and its chronograph function isn't working properly (minute counter doesn't reset to zero, sometimes doesn't advance a tick after the chronograph hand completes 60 seconds).

I'm thinking of sending it for a servicing but am having no luck in finding a watchmaker in Singapore who can do the job.

So I did a quick google and found a couple of online watchmakers who do servicing of vintage timepieces.

    1) Watchrepairs USA - Angelus Watch Repair Specialists - Watch Repairs USA
    2) Watchrepair.cc - Antique Chronograph Wristwatch Repair, Mechanical Chronograph Watch Cleaning, Repair and Overhaul of Chronograph wrist watch
    3) Chronodeco - chronodeco - Repair and Restoration

Anyone know if they are any good? Or has an alternative watchmaker to recommend?

The first 2 seemingly are capable of servicing any and all watches which make me somewhat wary.

I have no experience with any of them but I believe that Chronodeco has an amazing reputation. I've seen several good reviews on WUS and also on my local Dutch watch forum.

Craig at Chronodeco restored my Chronodato. Great job but was expensive - parts hard to source and lots of time involved in my particular case. Not Craig's fault - just the state of the watch.

One more vote for Craig/ Chronodeco. He performed on 3 chronos of mine which were valuable for me. All function like a champ.
He also is a pleasant contact.

I would suggest Alberto from Chronoworld.. Is one of the best watchmakers i have dealer with and a lover of Angelus watches. He owns several sf240 stations and a chronodato inherited by his father (also watchmaker) so he knows the stuff about the 217 calibers. his service of full restoration use to take arround 2 months and use to be 120-150 euros. I own a chronodato and never hesitate to leave mine to him. No better hands for this concrete model.
    Regards

Could you share in terms of a ball park cost that Craig charges to undertake a restoration of your Chronodato? Thanks

Just FYI, I messaged him a few days ago and he told me he wasn't accepting any new work at the moment.

Thanks for the update. Seems he is the go to person for Angelus watches.

Complicated movement ... I have a Chronodato in service by my watchmaker, it's not the easiest to work on I guess.

For the records adding some pictures. There seems to be a date code alike number on the main plate under the balance wheel, mine says 12 52 ( Dec 1952 ? ), movement serial number is 654246 and caseback serial number is 278149 - may be useful if we want to put serial numbers vs manufacture dates together.

All photos are in custody of Ronald Prins ( Vintage horloges | Uw Klokkenmaker ):
