    Smallest Gruen pocket watch.

There were some really fine tiny 10 lyne size pendant watches from Gruen around 1900. Considered to be miniature pocket watch today. Actually I just discovered the Gruen Guild marked lower cost 716 I think is 14 lyne is smaller than the Ultrathin, Very-Verithin, Verithin, 17 ligne sizes. (~10 size) Bought one for parts with broken spring thought was larger Semithin. Gruen Guilds are mostly 17 lyne Semithins a little thicker than Verithins but fine quality at lower cost than Verithins.

How small to pocket watches commonly get? While I would not call them large, based on the size of the US quarter dollar, they do not seem that small to me.

I love the growing Gruen archive you are creating

"The watch has to be surrounded by a history.
You need more than just a great design. You need to create an atmosphere around the product.
Who is the company behind it? Why are they using this material?
People need to be able to identify the watch with themselves. It's based on emotion." - Ralph Furter

...that's just my opinion and I've been wrong before and will be again and might be now!

Around 1900 many of the pendant 10 ligne size were made.Near quarter dollar size. Today called lady pocket watch. I believe most makers used to consider 10 size a minimum for accurate mechanical p.w. which meant case diameter about 43mm, near w.w. size today.
