Spotless Helbros from the late 60s

Just picked up this beauty. I've wanted to add a nice gold dressy watch to my collection for some time, and this one really jumped out at me. Probably paid a bit more than it would've cost online, but you can't beat the feeling of walking out of a store with the watch on your arm.

Made in West Germany, Calibre is a PUW 1463, nothing special, but the condition of the dial and plating is what really drew me to this one. The lume even has some life left in it, although the dot at 12 has come off.

Would love to see anyone else's Helbros watches, it's an underappreciated brand in my view. Here's another I picked up online for fun in comparison to the above:

Doesn't quite live up to the "Invincible" moniker!

Love Helbros...I owned a Helbros on a bombers bracelet that I purchased from a charity shop for £3.50. I had it serviced and smartened up and found the original owner through British Legion in Kent. He was still alive and so I handed it back to him...wish I had kept some photos....! I try to do the same with all Dog tags and WWII watches I purchase if they have inscriptions....! Sorry to hijack...!

No hijack at all! Great story, shame you don't have a picture, but brilliant that you were able to trace it back.

Hello, very nice looking, congratulations. There were Two different case styles that came with that dial and Two different movements also with that "smiling face" style dial. Here's a picture of my smiling face Helbros with a cushion style case and powered by an AS Cal. 2066 (You can tell the difference between the Two different movements by the location of the crown, a little higher for the PUW and a little lower for the AS).

By golly, that is spotless! Nice find.

My only Helbros is, coincidentally, my only electric. Couldn't resist the dial and hand-set, and it's a compressor case!

Those Helbros "Invincibles" were made in France, Germany and Switzerland. They all look the same from the outside but the movements are all different. The German made ones are the highest quality. The French ones are in the middle and the ones made in Switzerland are junk. The cases and dials are all identical.

My 21 J Helbros Invincible. A slightly unusual watch that I never wear, even though I like its design. It has a Fontainmelon French movement. It reminded me of an Alexander Calder mobile when I purchased it, less so now.Sorry for the lousy photo.

Super cool dial and second hand! I love the big 70's statement piece quarter hour markers. Get the crystal polished and wear it with pride :)
