    A strange Seamaster

    Good morning to everyone
My name is Stefano and I live in Italy. I've been passionate about watches since I was a child and lately I've been interested in vintage Omega.
A few days ago I found this strange Seamaster on eBay, and frankly I like it enough! What do you think? Is it authentic or another Frankenwatch?
thank you all and congratulations for your expertise and availability!

There is not enough details in these photos to give a conclusive opinion but based on what we have it does seem a nice example.
One word of warning though. This is a 'front loader' watch so the movement comes out of the front after removing the crystal with a special tool. Hence the 'tool 107' reference on the back. A seamaster deville I believe.

Some watchmakers do not know how to, or just won't, service these movements so this could be an issue if it needs servicing or something goes wrong. And in my opinion all half decent vintage buys should be serviced when you get them.
They are tricky to open because of risk of damaging the crystal during opening, risk of pranging the balance when fiddling with inner retention ring and the 2 piece stem breaks relatively frequently. All in all too risky for some watchmakers.

Doesn't look entirely OK. The case is that of a Seamaster Cosmic, while the dial isn't. Besides, it's marked as "waterproof", which wouldn't have been the case in the 1970s, and the dial happens to be a 1970s one.
Without the reference number, not much more to say.

I searched on the 166.036 reference using Google images, and I found a lot of examples with similar cases, including the "WATERPROOF" designation, suggesting that it is from the late 1960s, not 1970s,and @mkws indicated. All the dials I saw said both SEAMASTER and COSMIC.

Thanks to all of you for the answers!
In reality, the problem is just that: the reference would seem to be that of the Seamaster Cosmic, but there is no writing on the dial that would seem similar to many models of the 70s. Looking online I found two other similar models ... For this reason I am difficult to think of a Frankenwatch

Interesting. The OP didn't mention the price.

Thank you very much for compliments!
I will receive the watch on Monday morning, I am very curious and I’m editing to try it on my wrist. I bought the watch, with original box and papers from a Spanish seller on ebay (over 3000 100% positive feedback). The initial price was $ 500 but at the end accepted an offer of 400.
