My name is Armen, and I'm pretty much a newbie in the watch world. But lately I've been fascinated by the mechanical watches (both auto and manual wind) and I decided to get a couple of watches for myself from Ebay.
The first watch recently arrived: A 1902 Hamilton encased in an IWC Spartan case which I managed to get a for a good deal. Great working condition, just needs to get it cleaned. However, a small disaster struck when I accidentally dropped it, and now the plastic of the case has come off.
Seeing that this is my first antique pocket watch I would like to splurge a little; and currently deciding on whether I should recase it in a different Spartan casing, and entirely different metal casing by another case maker, or go all out for a silver sterling case which I would seriously love to own.
There's a likelihood that I may need to send the watch out of my country, since pocket watches aren't really a thing yet in Singapore (where I stayed, but somehow I am seeing a trend of interest which I am looking to capitalise, heh). So that is added shipping cost to consider.
So would really be worth the investment?
Thanks in advance!
