Sunday Market bargain of the week #2 ???

This is the second market buy of this morning - was unsure about this as couldn't see what I was getting. But in the end for $5 (yep - 5 bucks) the S/S band was probably worth it.

Very keen to get some expert advice on this one. The inscription has a date of 1952 on it so I am guessing this is roughly when it was made. The mainspring may well be shot - and it needs a crown stem.

But on the positive side the slightest pressure on the drive and it starts ticking just fine.

    Hi there,

The movement serial number dates it nearer to 1950...

With that level of rust, it's good to hear it ticks, but at the same time, I would not want the watch running, as you may be causing more problems!

For the money..... Amazing find!!! I would be happy to double your money for you

Also nice to see what looks like the original hands....

Reminds me of the 6b military issue watches (minus the centre second).

Thanks for the offer - but I must decline

I'm not too bothered about the face - lets see how it pans out with a little TLC. Will post update at some point.

Yep! $7 in local NZ$ so that's about $5 US. I too think it will turn out OK.

Now where can I find a crown & stem to fit?

That is a great grab...The rust doesn't look like it got into the escapement, so I think you will be OK.
