"Supreme IWC Co" pocket watch case = Illinois Watch Co? + other Q's

I've got THIS (link to photo album) pocket watch case, and want to verify whether the "IWC" stands for Illinois Watch Company or something else (presumably not International Watch Co).

It's marked as "Supreme I.W.C. Co", with serial number 4430113, if I'm not mistaken (going off of the pic, since I don't have it near me now). It's a size 14 or 16 case and is gold-filled.

Any other information, other than the manufacturer - e.g., approximate date - would be appreciated.

I also have a related question - would the original movement of such a case have "IWC" markings? The case came with THIS movement / dial, but it didn't seem like it was the original one, and it doesn't seem to have any identifying markings. One of the hands is also missing.

    Thanks for your help!

I have seen similar style cases on watches from the 20s. The movement and case were probably 'married' as you said. The movement actually looks to be Swiss but the real experts may know more.

Who is the company behind it? Why are they using this material?

...that's just my opinion and I've been wrong before and will be again and might be now!

The Supreme was a 10 year gold filled model from Illinois Watch Case Co. Apart from the link AbslomRob posted about no connection with Elgin, there was also no connection between Illinois Watch Case Co (the case manufacturer) and Illinois Watch Co (the watch manufacturer).

Wow, that's pretty confusing. Sounds like these guys were trying to ride on the reputation of Elgin and Illinois. Thanks for the info!
