Swiss Titus 18K chronograph on a new croco strap

I just switched out the old tan strap for a new black croco. Much better IMHO. The watch I acquired recently...it's a 1950s Swiss Titus in a solid 18K rose gold case and equipped with a 17 jewel Swiss Landeron 48 movement.

Very classy! It really compliments the watch.
    Great shot, too!

    Hi -

As always, Tom, beautiful piece. You are right, the croc looks great on it.

An alternative would be a WW2 vintage one-piece band, light khaki color, cotton. Completely different look then, but I think you may have a really hard time finding one in 20mm, since almost all issued watches back then used 16mm or 18mm...

remember I bought a Dorex chrono with a rose gold case and Venus movement a few days after you got yours? well it's arrived finally .. no photos yet because I had to send it to the watchmaker for a service (starts and stops .. movement seems gummed up!) .. the great thing is that the condition of the watch is very close to perfect! and what was bad was the ebay photos.. what appeared as corrosion is just dirt, the case is real solid gold (not one of those with a real thin gold back and steel underneath), the lugs have no scratches and even the dial that looked quite worn on ebay is actually in perfect condition, and has engine turned subdials that look wonderful!
as soon as the watch is back (about 2 weeks now) i'll be posting proper photos. it's going on a red Hadley strap ..

oh and I really like your titus :)

the cool thing about the Venus movement is that the pushers operate REALLY silkily, i'm comparing to my Omega Speedy Auto, which has the dubois depraz chrono - and that feels VERY clunky compared to the Venus. What does the Landeron feel like? (the action of the pushers, I mean).

incoming .. Seiko DX, Seiko LM, two almost identical Seiko Bullhead chronos

    Exquisite...

I had one identical to yours with a beautiful geneva striped Hahn-Landeron 248 new type movement. Dated to the mid 50's. Always regretted trading it but it did allow me to purchase my Breitling Cosmonaute ca 1967

Any chance of seeing the movement?

    Wonderful watch, cheers!

Because it's a 1950s watch and the company is apparently no longer in existence thanks to the "quartz revolution." Here's a shot I took today.

Titus is given an entry in Brunner/Pfeiffer-Belli's book "Wristwatches" under "Solvil & Titus". It was created by Paul Ditisheim (not sure what relation he was, if any, to the famous Robert Ditisheim who created the Vulcain Cal. 120 "Cricket" movement) who marketed watches under several names, incl. "Paul Ditisheim", "Solvil", "Ditis" and "Titus".

I have read that Paul Ditisheim did come from the same family that founded Vulcain.
