    Thanks Roamer

In a day in which many old swiss watch companies have 'lost' or simply don't care about their history other than what they can milk from the brand for the new owners, I just want to say thanks to the Roamer Watch Company.

Considering the company was a casualty of the quartz crisis, and essentially dormant (under swatch) from '83 until '93 - it still retains its company archive. Not only that, but they took the time to dig through their archive to supply me with photos and bios of 3 significant people in the companies history.

I've saved the best to last. In order to answer a technical historical question of mine, they (in their words) We get in touch with our former, retired patron regarding your last question. Which of course was answered to my complete satisfaction.

In my opinion, this is going the extra mile, and is well beyond my expectations. So this is a shout out, to thank them, what great customer service! Particular thanks to David for doing all this.

    Well done for asking!

I look forward to every snippet of information that you can dig up. Whilst I love theories, facts are always better.

Yes indeed. A lot of resurrected brands want the benefit of the name's heritage without doing anything to support it - so well done Roamer and well done Kris.Name: cool_64x64.png

That's great to hear the effort they went to for you

I wonder if I was researching something from Tissot, that wasn't in 'The book' , whether I'd get such a reply??

Just out of curiousity, what was the info you wanted??

I agree with Joe, only way to find out is to ask.

I wanted to know what year they first licensed and used the waterproof case patented by Morf in 1941. The first derived Roamer patents were from 1955. I was estimating it was 1945 based on the earliest designs, and they confirmed this date was exactly correct. This was previously unpublished info, but pretty important as the waterproof cases pretty much defined the companies products through to the 70s.

Thanks all, the praise is for Roamer, the asking by me is no effort.
