    Confused Thiel Alarm Pocket Watch

I am new to this forum. Recently I have bought Thiel Alarm pocket watch, crystal missing. Doesn't run. I would like to know how the alarm movement works and where to find the crystal. Anyone please help me to find which size of crystal and where to buy it. Would like to know about the movement type and number.

    Re: Thiel Alarm Pocket Watch

    Hi Satyrmurti,
wellcome to this forum. Thiel in general is a very special German Watchmaker who build since the end of the 19 century like Ingersol something that is usually called "watches for everybody" or "one dollar watches". The crystal you just have to measure the glasring rim and order 1/10 more and less (internet ebay) too or visit a vintage watchmaker. But the rest will be a problem. These movements are very simple made and wasn't constructed to be well repairable. More the direction of a "one way " product. Esspecially if you've a (in german: Körnerunruhe translator says:) grains balance you need luck that the watch run within a acceptable precision. Within the last years collectors regard this simple watches more and more especially "Thiel" as a part of the german history because his factory was turned to Rula after the second WW during the dark cold war aera as east germany excist out of the russian occupation aera. Good obtained runnng watches are quite rare and for broken ones you need a watchmaker who knows/have a part fundus about these very simple watches.
I don't know about the alarm clock but as far as I know they used different of their basic movements: Thiel Uhrwerke – Watch-Wiki.

    Kind regards Silke

    Thanks Silke,
Herewith I have attached the images for your reference. Please advice me which size would suit for this watch. Further I would like to know which type of crystal would suit i.e., convex, concave, high top, flat. Being a first time buyer I don't know much about the Pocket Watch.
    Thanks in Advance.

Search for a normal Pocket watch Lepine Mineralglas like here if you would be german : http://www.ebay.de/itm/LEPINE-Uhreng...item3cc25cab72. They are slightly domed.

    Kind regards Silke
