    Thoughts on this Gallet?

Vintage 1960s Gallet Black Dial Chronograph Original Beauty w Butterfly Clasp | eBay Name: s-l1000.jpg
Views: 257
Size: 113.8 KB Really gorgeous looking dial, but not like other Gallets I've seen (almost all vintage ones seem to have Arabic numerals rather than lume markers like this). Do you guys think it's refinished or could this actually be an unusual variant? The movement appears to be a Valjoux, not an Excelsior Park, though I'm not expert in these things.

No expert, but looks like someone's been to art class again. I doubt the dial is original, lume is very heavy and clumsy looking. No dial patination? Hmmm.

Agree with above. Hands and markers don't have matching patina and the dial is almost in better shape than on some of my newer watches.
    Beautiful watch though.

the slightly "clumsy" lume is typical for many Gallet dials, watch is most probably from the 1970s, might be a safe queen, as case, dial, hands even gaskets look almost virginal. movement is a Landeron 49 - and even for such a beautiful Gallet in excellent condition the asking price is optimistic for a Landeron piece.

Yes, it's an original dial, and a factory-released model. I think I have one of those dials in my stock bin. Gallet used the L149 in lots of models. A bit pedestrian, perhaps, but I've had nothing but solid performance in the ones I own.

Actually, I like the bold lume markers. I'm a big fan if easy to read watches.

I would have been sure this was a relumed dial?

I think the dial looks alright...I bet that case has had a good polish and therefore making it look almost newish/minty....?

    I've seen the same--albeit more worn-out--watch here:

Other than this, I have not been able to find any more information. Can anyone share any more info on this watch?

    Fred,

I agree with the 70s, particularly because of the tritium designation. I'm sure you meant base model 49, so not intending to correct; would this be a 249 to be exact?
