    Thoughts in this Longines

I saw this Longines on eBay from a seller with good feedback and plenty of it. I like the size (35mm) and the general look. The stem looks a little off though.

    Thoughts?

Dial seems distressed and the cross hairs and batons probably reworked.
Movement is very clean compared to dial and glass.

Comes down to price versus how much you like it

    Hope that helps

The movement is from around 1966 and they have probably changed the stem and crown but they didn't shorten the stem so the crown isn't flush with the case.

As of right now the price is very reasonable. A couple days left though. I have a max price I am willing to pay though. I have been watching Longines for a couple weeks and this was one of the first ones to jump out at me. Not to worried about the crown. I can take care of that.

I could just be scratches on the crystal and dirt on the dial that will clean up nicely.

Yes, the dial seems as it is reworked as Horologist007 said, the 12h marker and the other markers, crosshair doesnt even optically fit together. The 30L movement IMHO is one of the best handwind movements in serial production ever. The case seems as the original one altough the backlid would help to confirm it....I had a few 30L and 30LS, great watches so its really up to the price but I personally would never go for a reworked dial.
Here's a great resource for models with the 30L Longines 30L

Update> sorry for being suspicious about the dial and making conclusions, the marks of age tricked me this time:) go for it!!

    Re: Thoughts in this Longines

Here's a similar watch with a nice original dial for comparison:

I tend to the think the first one is OK and hope that the defects are on the crystal rather than the dial. But there is no way to know.

    Hope this helps,

    Thoughts in this Longines

You guys are awesome! I will see where that one goes price wise.

I also saw this one. I love the aging on the dial. The lug to lug is a decent size and I have been wanting a rectangularly watch. It would take care of two things on the want list. The seller says it runs slow so it will need to go for a service but I figure any I buy will need to. Thoughts?
