    Timex with no dial number

I read that mechanical Timex watches made after 1963 are supposed to have a number at the bottom of the dial that tells us when it was made. I have one that doesn't, and the movement looks like M80 from Dr. Ranfft's website and his example is from 1974. Any ideas what this is?

    Hi there,

on some models the code for model, calibre, and year is hidden under the bezel, on others it is simply missing - no idea why.

Another question then - how do I remove the movement from the case? Do I remove the stem with the little screw next to it?

I would highly suggest You not to remove anything when it involves Timex :)

First watch I ever took apart was a Timex. It's still apart.

    Yes.

But the warnings are justified. They tend to shoot bits into high orbits after removing something, and all appear to have one "general screw", and after unscrewing it they fall completely apart. Anyway, if you keep windows and doors closed during disassembling, you need no more than patience and some lumps of Rodico to get it together again.

    Ahh, thank you.

Bill D over at the Timex forum indicated that this is a Marlin. I can't find any other Marlins with a case in this shape though.
