    Tissot serial number problem

The Tissot forum is primarily populated by folks with the newer watches so
wondered if you guys had any ideas on my serial problem.

    Hi there,

the movements were probably numbered by Lemania.
I know no list of Lemania numbers, but 1 million was in the mid 50s, 4 millions
in the early 90s. Linar interpolation would place 3 Millions to the late 70s.

Thanks, Roland - that would seem to make sense.
I emailed you off your website about another question. Your Tissot 871/Lemania 1281 info indicates the 3 register as being an 873, where my 3 register is clearly labeled as an 871.
    Any thoughts on this?

So that would date my Tissot Seastar with Lem 1277, serial no' 208**** to the '60's then, which is when I was told it was made, but it would be nice to get an exact year for it!!

    mrsnak,

bidfun-db Archive: Watch Movements: Tissot 871 (Lemania 1281)

    Features
    manual-wind chronograph, 60s, 30min, 12h, cam switched
    sub second

870: hour counter, old minute counter jumper
871: hour counter, new minute counter jumper
872: no hour counter, new minute counter jumper

This link to RR's resource indicaters the 872 has seconds and mintues sub-registers, and lacks an hour counter. My caliber 871 includes, like yours, an hour counter.

    Hi Paul,

good that you remind me. In the Tissot bible from Estelle Fallet there are lots of errors referring the coordination between Tissot- and Lemania calibres. Some are already corrected after requests to Tissot, but I guess, not yet all errors are corrected, and worse: There are sometimes contradictions even on existent watches. Such details often go outside the radar, if on has to care for some 8000 calibres.
