    Titan watch

    Hi Guys,

My mate has dugout his (deceased) Fathers watch. Prob 1970s or maybe 80s. He is unsure whether it was purchased in Australia or maybe in Europe when his Dad went back to Spain for a visit. Any info on the watch and/or brand would be appreciated.

The face has Titan DeLuxe, 17 Rubis, Incabloc
The back has 18K, 0.750 12126 and perpendicular to the 0.750 it looks like 121.
It is square 25mm x 25mm, 25mm x 27mm with crown included. Thin, the measurements I have written down is 6 or 7 mm. Not sure if thats right?

Image upload is failing, I'll post to a photoshare site and link from there.

The Image upload is probably failing because the images are too big. You have to make them smaller.

    Re: Titan watch

I have a Titan watch (Swiss) which was bought for me (by my dad) in San Sebastian Spain in 1970. Mine has a Lorsa 238 movement (I think my movement was made in Switzerland). I suspect it is the same "Titan" - lower range but descent watch - well mine is anyway. Just cleaned and oiled the movement and it is running great. Would love to see a photo of the movement.

The third link isn't showing up for me. Can you edit it or post the picture? A movement picture would certainly help.

    Re: Titan watch

Thanks Guys, the problem with getting a shot of the movement is that isn't my watch and my friend is a bit nervous about us trying to get the back off. Specially with it being a square watch, wouldnt know how to get around it. I have suggested that he take it to a watchmaker for a check/service and get the movement details there/then.

I'll have a look at the 3rd photo soon, btw it is just a profile shot showing how thin it is.

Also, friend thinks his Dad mentioned that it was a gold watch. Does 14k being stamped on the back support this idea?

Yes if 14K is on the back of the case I would think it is 14K gold, there are probably other markings stamped on the back. The case back will come off quite easily - just take it to a jeweler and he should do it for you - he will just pop it off with a case knife.

My gut feeling tells me that it's earlier than seventies or eighties - probably around 1960, ± a few years. A movement picture would really help there, though.
