I picked up this vintage Titus day/date watch at an estate auction last night. Has just about the coolest name of any watch ever...right?
I've seen a couple here and there online, but nothing exactly like this one.
It's in decent condition, the acrylic crystal needs a polish, and the plating has worn? away on three of the four lugs.
I haven't opened it to look at the movement. The watch runs but could do with a service I'm guessing. When I move the watch around I can what sounds like an oscillating weight inside. It sounds kind of like metal rubbing on metal. Does anyone know if this is normal?
The watch case is gold plated. the words 'gold plated' and 'warranted' are engraved on the side of the case along with a symbol or something else I can't make out. Couldn't really get a decent photo of it.
Not sure if the crown is original. Seems very plain and out of place. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
The 'lamp' stainless steel bracelet is rather worn, so my plan is to replace it with a nice brown leather strap.
Below are some photos of what it looks like now, and I'll update with some more photos once it has been cleaned up and given a new strap. I think it will come out quite nice.
Any more information anyone has on this watch would be great to hear. Thanks!
