I love Certinas and this one looks really good with no or little scratches so it will clean up nicly. A new strap and you have a great looker on your wrist.

Here in Sweden we have a great number of them and I just got 10-15 just in parts.

thanks. Yep i'm planing on buying a leather strap. I was oscillating between this and an Enicar ( which I also like).
Just a few marks from wearing. Might need a cleaning however around the back case.

Ye I like Enicars as well but none of my Enicars are working that well but my Certinas all work. This could just be bad luck on my part but just an observation. The same goes with Candinos that I have a weak spot for but they always have problems.

For me the watch is the star so I'd go with a lighter colour but this is all about taste and black is nice too if you have a dark suit. :)

A very nice, classy, watch. Certinas are excellent watches - and moderately priced vintage buys.

    Re: Today's Buy - Certina

So this is it. From what i can see it needs a cleaning and maybe a polish for the cristal. However I cant manage to open the back and I don't want to scratch it, how can I do that so I can take some pics with the mechanism as well?

Is it working fine but just one thing bothers me. The crown is so small and tiny very hard to twist. Is this how is suppose to be?
And well a stupid newbie question. Can i use 95% alcohol solution to clean it or should I just go and buy a special one? Since most of the black/green parts seen in pictures is just dirt sign of poor maintenance.

Those are some delicate lugs and two of the holes are enlarged indecating a rusted spring on one side so throw both springs away and get new once. I should suggest that you do not put on a steel armband so not to wear out the lugs more then necessary.

Get some Polywatch and Pec-Pads (Lint Free Wipes that never break and don't scratch so you can press hard) and get scrubbing the crystal. Polywatch will also work as a polish for getting rid of the dirt on steel so you don't need anything else.
