    Todays cool Eterna Matic find...

I picked up this very clean looking Eterna Matic KonTiki today at an NAWCC show for a very reasonable price. The dial looks washed out in my pic, but it really is in perfect shape. I changed out the band and gave it some minor service, but it was running great and keeping time when I bought it (I always like to oil a few things when I get something new-to-me).

I don't know a lot about Eterna, even though I have an old bumper automatic. Something about this one said "buy me"! It has a serial number of 4689XXX. Any ideas of how old this may be... 1960s?

    Thanks for looking,
    Ron

this is a kontiki from the late 50's-early 60's, it is a very good quality watch. Accurate and reliable.

Nice find! It's really rare to find them with the gold medallion in such good shape.

Do I sense a general rise in interest in Eterna of late? Really nice pickup, Ron,

    Movement pic as requested...

The rotor has a bit of a wobble to it (as can be seen by the wear on the plate), so I am wondering if it will rotate properly to wind the watch. Only one way to tell, gotta wear it for a few days.

I am sure that will be no hardship.

Looking at the movement... I am guessing, it has a similar 1414 (U or UD) cal. to the one i posted recently?

Again... looks very nice - inside and out!
