    Picture Tremont KW pocket watch



    This watch was made by the Tremont watch co of Boston Massachusetts was in business from 1864-1866,18 size,KW,15 jewel,serial no 2425,in a G.W.L. hunter case.A.L.Dennison was the founder of the Tremont watch co his second try at making watches his first was with David Davis and Mr.Howard with Waltham Watch co 1851-1857.I like the hands on this one the silver tips on these spade hands and the white saphire jewels.

    Nice condition. There are probably not many left as the entire Tremont production was only about 5000 units?

    A question: how is this watch wound and set?
    I can see a winding square on the barrel arbour and also a crown.

    With a key you wind it from the back you will see what looks like a small tube bolted down by three screws that's called a cup and what you call a winding square you put the key in to wind it.Then on the front look at the hands in the center you will see were the key go's to set the time I did another post a elgin if you look it up you will see what the key looks like.

    I guess the 'crown' is merely the release button for the back.

    Ah.... I see it now, it is key wind and key set. Didnt notice the setting square on the cannon pinion.

    The 'crown' was a bit confusing, silly me....

    The button on the crown open's the front cover.
