Trying to Identify and Learn about EBEL 18k Pocket Watch

I just came across an Ebel pocket watch (see photo). 18k in excellent condition. Started searching the Internet to find something like it and came up empty handed. The movement is marked Ebel Fab Suisse. It measures 40 x 40 mm. The case is marked PHC and a case number 897033 as well as the 18k & 750 marks.

Anyone out out there know anything about this watch? I think it's 60's. Movement? Jewels? Why don't I see anything else even remotely similar? I'm clearly not an Ebel aficionado

Thanks for any and all help.

    Hi there,

the movement is based on the AS 1758:
bidfun-db Archive: Watch Movements: AS 1758

There was a group formed by Doxa, Eberhard, Favre-Leuba, Girard-Perregaux, and Zodiac, who got some AS calibres modified after their preference, among them an AS 1758 like this:
    bidfun-db Archive: Watch Movements: Girard-Perregaux 26.09 (AS 1758)

It is not known (at least I don't know), how Ebel was involved in this group, but one can't ignore that many of these movements are found in Ebel watches.

Well, Ebel is sufficiently well known for there to be a little added value (on top of gold content) for this watch. Still, I agree that it would be a sacrilege to melt down any watch that isn't wholly trashed.....
