    Two of My Vintage Watches

Here are two of my regular wear watches. Both 1960's I think. I love the Aureole dial. I also like the old-school diver. I have seen the same watch branded "Le Jour", instead of Pierre Chevelle, as mine is. Both swiss movements. Both under $100.00 three years ago. Running fine, my type of watch, for the most part.

I especially like the diver watch. You could have indeed seen these branded as Le Jour- Le Jour was a brand of Continental Time Corp. , the markings of which are on the movement of your watch.
The Aureole has a beautiful dial indeed.

The diver could use a new crystal as there is a crack and a scuff. I'm sure it is glass. Otherwise, it is just my style. Love the hour hand and the seconds hand, with the huge dot. The Lume has a nice aged look. I'll have to check for a source for a new crystal. Love the dial on the Aureole. I may change to a leather band though.

Wearing these vintage watches is a lot of fun, and I especially like explaining them to people who comment. They are amazed that the watches are still running, and like to hear their history. They sometimes have a story of an old watch a relative has. I always encourage them to bring them out into the light and wear them. And, I ask to see them, of course!

I love the dial on the Aureole, I think you're right though, it's crying out for a nice leather strap.
The diver is funky and as has been said could really come to life with a new crystal.

Would you say a mid-brown would work best? Other?

How about a good sturdy rubber strap on the Diver? :)

For the diver, I'd suggest a brown rally, something like that:
Hirsch RALLY Natural Leather Racing Watch Strap in BROWN | HirschStraps
Will contrast nicely with the black dial, match the aged lume, and give the watch a bit of a "devil may care" looks.

The Aureole has some sort of ETA movement, probably this one:

    bidfun-db Archiv: Uhrwerke: ETA 2391

...while the Pierre Chevelle has a french movement:

bidfun-db Archiv: Uhrwerke: Lorsa P75 (or derivative)

Great suggestion. I like it! I'll look for some for my other watches too.
