U.S. 1890-1900 COMMON LARGE GOLD CASES

2 of my 40 year accumulation of gold case p.w. Both with original 15j common Waltham model 1883 Bartlett movements and near new condition. The solid 14k Keystone case is a very complicated machine engraved heavy weight; 142 grams near 5 oz total with mvnt. The locomotive multicolor is a fine example of 14k gold fill by MUHR they called Crown gold fill with raised ornamentation. Shown here as typical examples of many of the best U.S. makers before 1900, but actually quite common. Scarce today because so many were scrapped although quite a few exist in fine condition since they were long time family keepsakes. artb

Such workmanship is rarely seen on a case.
Yellow (several shades by the look of it), green, red and white gold used with such skill and taste.

Congrats Art, you are a lucky guy with great taste yourself.

    Thanks,
    Bob.

    Absolutely stunning. Wow
