    UG Polerouter Jet

Well, I hadn't seen a Polerouter at a price I could afford for a while until this one. Very blurred picture, full description:

    VINTAGE GENTS UNIVERSAL
    GENEVE POLEROUTER JET WRISTWATCH
IN USED WORKING CONDITION, SCRAPES TO GLASS, TOP OF WINDER MISSING AND STRAP IS BROKEN.. AS WITH ALL VINTAGE WATCHES
A SERVICE AND GOOD CLEAN IS RECOMMENDED
    LOOKS BETTER THAN PHOTO

So a bit of a gamble. Anyway, here it is back from our very own tomshep who managed to modify a stem to fit as well as servicing the watch, cleaning the case and the ingrained dirt off the dial and generally saving the watch from oblivion.

The back, alas is not original - but its a nice fit..

from the Sze Tat metal Ware factory in Hong Kong! I'll look out for a replacement - but won't pay the silly prices that are sometimes asked.

Running great! Thanks Tom. I also need to source a nice 19mm strap. All in good time.

The movement is a 215-9 28 jewel, 21,600 b/h with an impressive 58 hour power reserve.

    My 4th Polerouter.

No serial number - that would have been on the case back - but dating to about 1959 - 1960.

You ain't foolin' me. I know a fake SZE TAT when I see one and trying to pass off a Polerouter as one is simply scandalous!
Glad you are happy with it. It is a lovely watch. Wear and enjoy!
(Thinks: If I'd known he had three more, it would have got "Lost" in the post)

On sourcing a 19mm strap remember it's the old 3/4 in standard. If you have trouble finding one, I have three ebay store bookmarked, that should have what you need. I have a feeling that you don't need any help.

Great find Marrick. Inexpensive Polerouters are very hard to come by. I've had my eye on three or four of them only to watch the price blow by my budget. Hopefully soon I will come across another one to add to the collection.

Casebacks do turn up from time to time on that auction site:

Unfortunately, this one ended over the weekend. There's a full case on there now, but it looks to be too early for your watch.

    Hope this helps,

Yes - thank you. I'd seen the case back - but I don't really want to pay £39 for one. The watch was only £80 - and I've had it sorted of course. But I'll keep an ebay eye out. There's no rush as the back on it fits perfectly.

I did buy a UG case off ebay once before, but my local watchmaker had a very difficult job getting the movement to fit.

Nice snag on the recent one, but I have to say the 3rd one in your above post is the pick of the litter. That has the best chapter ring. Is it a microrotor or bumper?
