    Ulysse Nardin Chronometre 24H dial

Recently has emerged such marine chronometer.
The condition is very good, but I can't find the information on the 24 hour dial watch, although the 12 hour dials are quite common. There was, like, one auction on Sotheby's, but there's very little information on the watch. Since it is asked for a considerable price, do not want to make a mistake and buy Frankenstein, although at first glance everything is fine.
    Isn't it kosher?

    Dont worry, it will surwive!
65 MM a little big one for the wrist.

I don't brag about this watch or sell it. I want to decide whether or not to buy this watch. Therefore, I need constructive criticism so that I can reasonably bargain with the seller or refuse to deal with him.

    Top is misaligned.

Bottom appears to be lighter colored material.

Thanks for paying attention to this, I compared other photos and found that the top sub dial on all photos is positioned differently. It is probably a paper pad under the arrow or the sub-dial itself is poorly fixed in the dial.

Contacted the seller. He says that the top sub-dial is badly rocked on the main dial and moves slightly around the axis, probably it can be correctly installed and fixed. He can't say anything about the lighter sub-dial.

But the main question that interests me is whether there was such a chronometer with a 24 hour dial, because I can not find information on the network, the help of experts is needed.

Re: Ulysse Nardin Chronometre 24H dial

I do not know about the dial, but what I can tell you is that it is not a marine chronometer. It is a Chronometre de bord, more commonly referred to as a deck watch or deck chronometer. It uses the typical deck watch ebauche by Nardin (22/24 lignes) made from around 1907 to 1953.
There were many versions and grades of this ebauche, which differed in terms of jewels, regulators, and escapements. Yours is a quality "B" lever escapement example with 18 jewels (quality "A" had 21 jewels). It should be emphasized that the quality B versions still were of extremely high quality. It, of course, has a Guillaume balance. Some of the deck watches by Nardin were delivered with observatory certificates (mostly from the Neuchatel observatory), but this specific example (15283) was, as far as I can tell, not sent for testing. Generally, the deck watches by Nardin were only certified if expressly requested by the buyer (testing was quite prohibitive in terms of cost, as the Chronometre de bord tests at the Neuchatel observatory were very long and difficult). Interestingly, I can find that numbers 15281 and 15282, for example, were tested in 1914/1915 at the observatory. The other deck watches (most of them) were tested in-house by Nardin themselves and still referred to as "Chronometres".
