A Unique watch for a close friend

Hey all, I managed to get a good friend of mine on my high school debate team interested in vintage watches (I tend to wear vintage Seiko and Longines). Since he has been asking me questions about brands, movements, etc. I try to direct him towards well respected swiss brands, however he gravitates towards watches with unique features, namely the Raketa Copernicus. Are there any other vintage timepieces that feature a unique set of hands or have a unique dial that would pass for under $250? My only gripe with the Copernicus is the water resistance rating and the lack of brand prestige. Thanks in advance. -Matt
P.S. my friend has fairly small wrists at about 6 inches.

If you can find a good working-order Wittnauer Electro-Chron, it has weird hands not too disimilar to the Copernicus:

No matter the brand, I'd try to keep any vintage watch from needing to test water resistance.
I've got more Converse sneakers than watches, but it is a close race.

Friends don't push friends down the electro-mechanical rabbit hole. I've been able to find two people in the world who service the 4750 movement and it's $200-$300 with no guarantees the watch will run more than a few months. I've also never seen one of the Wittnauers with the funky hands go for less than $500. Edit: There was a $340 winning bid listing from May 2018. My bad.

How about a Zodiac Astrographic? There are a fair number of sold listings far enough under your budget to include the cost of service and stay under $250.

Timex made some jump minute movements for a while. I think they're pretty neat and unique. Here's mine and a video.
