    An unusual buy for me

I don't normally go for pocket watches but I saw this on EBay and it's beautiful dial won me over

Nothing special about the Gold plated case, it's just a little worn

The Key wound and set Movement, any Ideas? No markings to be seen anywhere

I brought this simply for the dial but I'd like to know a bit more, How old?, I'm thinking late 1800's/early 1900's, movement? any help guy's?, it's 46mm across by the way, Gent's or Lady's?

    Pretty dial indeed.

The style of movement is generic and is difficult to impossible to tie down a specific maker.
I agree that the watch is probably late 19thC.

The entire part with the balance wheel looks like the one used in Reconvilier movements.
On the other hand, this one looks similar:

    It has 10 jewels though...

Thanks fellas, it's great to think that I've saved this watch for the future, I just wonder who would have owned it when it was new? Oh well some questions are never meant to be answered I guess

    Hi Matt,

I bet if you ask him, Tomcat could tell you the tale of your very beautiful watch.

The dial is lovely...I think it is always fun to catch something outside of our norm - maybe watches like this catch us, instead of us catching them...congrats.

I think you might want to look out for a nice vintage holder for it so you can wear it on your wrist.
