    Value of Ladie's B&M?

    Hello Vintage-ers!

Solid gold case and bracelet, works great!

Not my watch, but just wondering what it might be worth?

Prices are all over the map on the bay..

    Thanks in advance!!

    Respectfully,
    Paul

    Hi -

Please read the sticky at the top of the forum: online valuations are meaningless and we don't do them.

There's not much of an established market for womens watches. With an recognized maker, there's some value due to name, precious metal cases also add value. As with any thinly traded item prices will vary greatly. If a watch has gemstones it becomes a jewelry item and fits in an entirely different class.

    Thanks, Mike...

I can pretty much look at any watch on the sales forum and tell you within a couple of minutes what it should sell for but have NO idea on vintage pieces. All of my friends on other sites said to post it here because there were some smart folks around here that could help. Didn't know it was against a WUS rule..

Oh, and Brad... thanks as well...

    NOT

I'll 'see' you elsewhere as well.

With vintage, you have to have the watch in hand to judge condition, much of the valuation is based on condition, pictures aren't adequate. Any estimate from pictures is a guess, which is why giving estimates, is strongly discouraged. If you start with gold value, add a small premium for name, you'll be in the ballpark but what that premium should be I don't know.

    Re: Value of Ladie's B&M?

Thanks again, Mike. That is really what I was looking for, not an exact price. I've seen similar watches selling for upwards of 15K and had no idea why. I've also seen some selling for about 3..

The discussion of valuation of watches seems to be on every single forum and I would think of all the forums, this would be the one where it would be most helpful.

    Anyway, I digress.

Have a great day and thanks again!

Just got word from Paul. He has sold the watch and bought a tiny Pacific island. Unfortunately, there is no Internet access there.

We'll miss ya Paul; this place is poorer for it.
