Vintage Antique Watch, Pocket Watch Show in Arcadia, California this Saturday.

Not sure where to post this but I figure the vintage section might reach more relevant WUSers.

My local Watch & Clock Collector's Club is hosting a trading mart this Saturday at City Community Center, 365 Campus Drive, Arcadia, CA.

9:30 AM to 1 PM. There will be 40 + vendors there. Lots of antique vintage wristwatches, pocket watches, clocks of all sorts, parts, horological tools.

It is always fun to talk to other like-minded collectors in these marts. Come on by if you are in the neighborhood.

I'm not sure where one would normally post this either. But I personally probably wouldn't see it if posted elsewhere!

I've never been to your show but they are not uncommon in the Great Lakes part of the country. It is interesting being able to actually see the watch. You really do get to 'know' a lot more when the watch is in hand. And, as a result, I have sometimes bought watches I never would have otherwise.

And meeting the vendors can sometimes make me actually believe a watch was properly serviced, a major point in vintage collecting. (Unless I know the vendor, I never believe 'serviced' on eBay. Even watchmakers selling on eBay often don't seem to have a level of 'service' most collectors expect.)

But, overall, I generally find the pricing to be "I'm a collector and this is what I am willing to take to part with this watch." By that standard, most of us probably have pretty valuable collections
"Forever is composed of nows." - Emily Dickinson

"The watch has to be surrounded by a history.
You need more than just a great design. You need to create an atmosphere around the product.
Who is the company behind it? Why are they using this material?
People need to be able to identify the watch with themselves. It's based on emotion." - Ralph Furter

...that's just my opinion and I've been wrong before and will be again and might be now!
