Vintage Buren Grand Prix - manufacture year?

Hello! I recently repaired and repainted an old gold watch originated from my grandfather. It has been difficult to find its original manufacture year. I haven’t found one singel picture similar to the watch. The watchmaker guessed it could be from the 30s. It looks a little more simple than most other Buren watches I have seen. Do anyone have a clue? Thank you in advance!

    Late 1940s, early 1950s.

Either the crystal distorts the writing or, looking at how wonky "Grand Prix" is, it must be a redial.

The original post states "repaired and repainted." A redial it is. Summing up the factors accounting for the quality of a redial, it's a mediocre one; judging by the minute track, not a bad one, judging by the font - not a good one.

Re: Vintage Buren Grand Prix - manufacture year?

Here is a very similar Buren Grand Prix that I do not believe was altered – it belonged to a relative who passed away recently, and I think this was his watch for decades.

    I have several questions:

    - The marking at the back says 261001 - I initially thought this might be a serial number but it appears to be a model number, since @HowdyHal's watch has the same one.
    - The case appears gold plated but I have rarely seen mid-century gold-plated watch that also have a gold-plated back (I have a bunch of Omegas from that era). Does anyone know if this model is gold? On the side of the case, just below the right lug, there is a small marker but it's too small to tell what it says.
    - Is anyone familiar with the history of these Buren Grand Prix? I've seen a lot of different models online.
    - Any guess as to the value?

    Thanks!

Another redial - look at the thick, narrow font, completely inconsistent with any of the ones used by Buren.

As to the case material, gold-filled cases tend to have the back gold-filled as well. However, these were usually marked on the outside. If you really want to know if it is solid gold or not, you'll have to open the case and have a look at the markings on the inner side of the case back.
