    Question Vintage Buren PW

    Hi guys,

recently bought a vintage Buren pocket watch off the bay. The case is silveroid or some other alloy/base metal and is not signed anywhere. I have been trying to identify the movement using Ranfft's site but haven't had any luck - any ideas? I would also appreciate an estimate of the age of the piece:

    15 Jewels
    Buren
    3?37108

    Thanks.

Buren was a Swiss company that was British owned from 1899 to 1932. The employees bought over the company in 1932 and continued as The Buren Watch Company, Switzerland, until bought over by Hamilton in 1966. Your watch is probably from the first Buren company before 1932 due to the design of jewelling. I do not know much about Buren though, so the experts should have their say. The face of your watch has been repainted though, the numerals have received a crude layer of gold paint or re-lume. This may have happened long time ago, or recently.

Thanks Erik, the 'gold paint' on the numerals is actually degraded lume. I agree that it is very poorly applied.
