    Vintage chronograph spares situation

I am currently minded to buy a vintage chrono, not terribly fussed about the movement but in general is there one or more brands for which the spares situation is poor to non existent other than the Venus / Cortebert stuff that I have been warned about ?

Is there a particular movement you're concerned about? Parts are often available on the secondary market, and good watchmakers know how to find them. I'm not sure why you mentioned Venus in particular, but I certainly wouldn't avoid Venus movements because of some notion that they can't be repaired.

One watch repairer recently stated that anything for Venus is nigh on impossible to find. As for movements, I'm looking at a basic simple manual wind, prefer the usual two button operation, not really concerned regarding column wheel or cam operated. Ideally, I would like an older watch as I prefer 40's / 50's sizes and styles.

This is on ebay at the moment..still a way to go on bidding so price is low.

It has a Valjoux 22 movement was in production for about 50 years or so I believe so potentially lots of donors for future spares if needed (if you can find a reasonable priced and competent watchmaker for future services/repairs )
